One sunny day, little Goldilocks went for a walk in the woods. Her wavy honey-blonde hair bounced as she skipped down the path. She wore her favorite blue dress. The trees were big and green. Birds sang sweet songs up high. As she walked, she saw pretty flowers and soft moss. Then, through the trees, she saw something new! It was a cute little cottage. Smoke came from its chimney in happy puffs. "Oh!" said Goldilocks. "I wonder who lives there?" She could smell something yummy in the air. Her tummy made a little growl.

Goldilocks walked up to the wooden door. She stood on her tippy toes and knocked three times: knock, knock, knock! She waited. No one came. She knocked again: knock, knock, knock! Still, no one came to the door. The yummy smell was even stronger now. Through the window, she could see three bowls on a table. Steam rose from them in curly wisps. Her tummy growled again, louder this time. The door wasn't locked. It moved a tiny bit when she touched it.

Goldilocks pushed the door open slowly. It made a tiny creaking sound. She stepped inside the cozy cottage. The room was warm and friendly. Three wooden chairs sat by a round table. On the table were three bowls of hot porridge. One bowl was very big. One was medium-sized. And one was just a little bowl. The smell made Goldilocks' tummy rumble even more. She hadn't eaten since breakfast, and the porridge looked so good! "Maybe," she thought, "I could try just a tiny taste." She walked to the table and looked at the three bowls. The big bowl had a big spoon. The medium bowl had a medium spoon. The little bowl had a little spoon.

Goldilocks picked up the big spoon. It was heavy in her small hand. She dipped it into the biggest bowl of porridge. Steam rose up as she lifted the spoon. She blew on it softly and took a tiny taste. "Ouch!" she said, putting the spoon down fast. "That's way too hot!" Her tongue felt all tingly. She needed a drink of water to cool it down. She looked at the other two bowls. The medium bowl still had steam rising from it. The little bowl looked cooler.

Goldilocks looked at the medium bowl. She picked up the medium spoon and stirred the porridge slowly. "This one might be better," she said softly. She dipped the spoon in and lifted it carefully. A few drops fell back into the bowl with little plops. She blew on it gently, just to be safe. Then she took a tiny taste. "Brrrr!" she said, making a funny face. "This one is too cold!" She put the medium spoon down and looked at the last bowl. The little bowl sat there, looking just perfect. The porridge in the little bowl wasn't steaming like the big bowl. But it wasn't cold like the medium bowl either. Goldilocks' tummy growled again. She really was hungry now.

Goldilocks picked up the little spoon. It fit just right in her hand. She dipped it into the little bowl of porridge and took a small taste. Her eyes got big and bright. "Mmm!" she said with a happy smile. "This one is just right!" The porridge was warm and sweet. Not too hot, not too cold. It was so good that Goldilocks kept eating until the whole bowl was empty! But now that her tummy was full, her legs felt tired from her long walk. She looked at the three chairs by the fireplace. The big chair was made of dark wood. It had a red cushion and looked very grand. The medium chair was soft and green, with pretty flowers on it. The little chair was painted blue and had a small cushion that looked just her size. Goldilocks wanted to rest her legs for a bit before walking home.

Goldilocks walked over to the big chair. It was so tall she had to climb up to sit in it! She used her hands to pull herself up onto the soft red cushion. "Oh!" she said as she sank way down into the chair. It was much too big! Her feet didn't touch the floor at all. The back of the chair was so high it made her feel tiny. She wiggled around, trying to get comfy. But the chair was just too big. She felt like a little pea in a great big pod! "This chair is too big!" she said, sliding back down to the floor. Her legs dangled in the air before her feet touched the ground. She looked at the other two chairs. The medium chair with its pretty flowers looked soft and cozy. The little blue chair seemed just perfect for someone her size.

Goldilocks walked over to the medium chair with the pretty flowers. She sat down carefully, smoothing her blue dress. "Ooof!" she said, sinking deep into the soft cushion. The chair was so squishy that she felt like she was being hugged too tight! She tried to sit up straight, but the chair was too soft. Every time she moved, she sank deeper and deeper into the cushions. "This chair is too soft!" she said, pushing herself up with both hands. It took a lot of work to get out! Her legs felt even more tired now. The little blue chair looked so inviting. It was just her size, with its small cushion and pretty blue paint.

Goldilocks walked over to the little blue chair. It looked so cute and perfect! She sat down with a happy smile. "Ahhh!" she said. "This chair is just right!" The cushion was soft but not too squishy. Her feet touched the floor just right. The back of the chair felt perfect against her back. She rocked a little bit in the chair, feeling very cozy. Back and forth, back and forth. The chair made a gentle creaking sound. CRAAACK! Suddenly, the chair broke into pieces! Goldilocks fell right onto the floor with a bump! "Oh no!" she said, looking at the broken chair. "I didn't mean to break it!" Now she felt very tired and a bit sad. Her legs were wobbly from walking, and her bottom hurt from falling. She saw stairs going up to the second floor. Maybe there was a nice place to rest up there? The stairs looked a bit steep, but she could see three beds at the top.

Goldilocks walked up the stairs carefully, holding onto the railing. Each step made a tiny creak under her feet. At the top, she found a cozy bedroom with three beds all in a row. The first bed was very big, with a thick brown blanket and huge fluffy pillows. It looked like it could fit a giant! Next to it was a medium-sized bed with a pretty green quilt and soft-looking pillows. The third bed was small and cute, with a blue blanket and one little pillow. It looked just perfect for someone her size. Goldilocks felt so sleepy. Her eyes were getting heavy, and her feet hurt from all her walking. "Maybe," she thought, "I could take a tiny rest before going home."

Goldilocks walked to the big bed. She had to climb up using both hands and feet because it was so tall! The brown blanket felt soft under her fingers. When she finally got up, she sank deep into the mattress. It felt like lying on a big, fluffy cloud! But it was TOO fluffy! She kept sinking and sinking. The huge pillows were so big they almost covered her whole head! "Oh my!" said Goldilocks, wiggling around. "This bed is much too soft! I feel like I'm drowning in fluff!" She rolled and rolled until she reached the edge of the bed. Then she slid down carefully to the floor. Her curls were all messy now from the big pillows. She smoothed them down with her hand and looked at the other two beds. The medium bed with its pretty green quilt looked cozy. The little bed with its blue blanket seemed just her size.

Goldilocks walked over to the medium bed. She climbed up more easily than the big bed - it wasn't quite so tall. The green quilt felt smooth and cool. She lay down and put her head on the pillows. "Ouch!" she said, sitting up quick. This bed was hard as a rock! The mattress felt like it was made of wooden boards. She tried lying on her side. That was even worse! Her shoulder hurt from the hard mattress. "This bed is much too hard!" said Goldilocks, climbing back down. Now she was even more tired than before. Her eyes felt so heavy she could barely keep them open. The little bed with its blue blanket looked so cozy. It was just her size, not too tall and not too wide.

Goldilocks walked to the little bed. It was just the right height - she could climb in easily. The blue blanket looked soft and cozy. She lay down and put her head on the little pillow. A happy smile spread across her face. "Ahhh," she sighed. "This bed is just right!" The mattress wasn't too soft like the big bed. It wasn't too hard like the medium bed. It was perfect! The pillow cradled her head just right. The blue blanket felt warm and snuggly. Goldilocks' eyes started to close. She was so comfy and tired from her long walk. "I'll just rest for a tiny minute," she whispered. Soon, she was fast asleep, curled up under the blue blanket. Her honey-blonde curls spread out on the pillow like a golden fan. But while Goldilocks slept, something was happening! The three bears were coming home from their walk. They were hungry after waiting so long for their porridge to cool. Papa Bear's big feet made thump-thump sounds as they walked. Mama Bear hummed a happy tune. Baby Bear skipped along between them.

Papa Bear opened the door to their cottage. "Someone's been in our house!" he said in his deep voice. Mama Bear saw the spoons by their porridge bowls. "Someone's been eating our porridge!" she said. "And someone ate all of mine up!" cried Baby Bear, looking at his empty bowl. They walked to their chairs. Papa Bear's cushion was squished. Mama Bear's chair had a big dent. "Someone's been sitting in my chair!" said Baby Bear. "And they broke it all to pieces!" The bears looked at the broken blue chair. Then they heard a tiny sound from upstairs - a soft snore! They walked up the stairs quietly. Papa Bear saw his messy bed. Mama Bear saw the wrinkles on her quilt. Baby Bear tiptoed to his bed. There was Goldilocks, fast asleep! "Someone's sleeping in my bed!" whispered Baby Bear. Goldilocks opened her eyes. She saw three bears looking at her! "Oh!" she cried, jumping up. Her heart went thump-thump-thump! But Mama Bear smiled kindly. "Don't be scared, little one. But you should ask before using things that aren't yours." Goldilocks felt very sorry. "I didn't mean to break the chair," she said. "I'll help fix it!" "That's very nice of you," said Papa Bear gently. Baby Bear stepped forward. "Would you like to come back tomorrow? We can play together, and Mama makes the best porridge!" Goldilocks smiled. "I'd like that very much!" And from that day on, Goldilocks had three new friends. She visited often, always knocking and waiting to be invited in. She helped Baby Bear fix his chair, and they shared many bowls of just-right porridge together. The End
