One sunny morning, Don Quixote woke up in a modern house. His eyes grew wide with wonder. "What magic is this?" he said, looking at a big TV on the wall. "Aha! A magic mirror that shows other worlds!" He stood tall and proud. In the kitchen, he saw a microwave. Its door was shiny. "A silver chest! It must hold great treasure!" he said with joy.

Don Quixote tip-toed up to the TV with wide eyes. He bowed low before it. "Oh wise magic mirror," he said, "show me your secrets!" He saw his own face in the black screen. Then he found a small black wand (the remote) on the table. "A magic wand! This must be how to wake the mirror!" Don Quixote picked up the remote. He waved it at the TV with a big smile. "Abracadabra!" he said, pressing a red button. CLICK! The TV came on with a bright flash! "GASP!" Don Quixote jumped back as cartoons filled the screen. "Tiny people live inside! They need my help!" he said, watching the cartoon characters dance.

Don Quixote left the magic mirror and its tiny people, walking down the hallway with careful steps. "More magic must be near!" he whispered. He found the bathroom and pushed open the door. His eyes got very big. "Oh my!" he gasped. The shiny white bathtub gleamed in the light. "A royal boat! For sailing magic seas!" He climbed in and sat down, making boat noises. Then he saw the shower head above. "A silver dragon's head! It must make rain!" He stood up and looked closer. The sink's faucet caught his eye too. "And look! Baby dragons!" he said with joy. He heard a soft HUM coming from behind a door. It was the washing machine in action. "What's this? A mighty drum making thunder music!" He pressed his ear to the door.

Don Quixote cleared his throat and stood up very straight. "Good day, mighty thunder drum!" he said in his best brave voice. "I am Don Quixote, and I come in peace!" WHIRRR! The washing machine kept humming. "Ah! It speaks!" Don Quixote clapped his hands. "Such a lovely song!" He saw the round window on the machine, with clothes spinning inside. "Oh my! The thunder drum is eating clothes!" he gasped. "Fear not, fair garments! I shall save you!" He looked around and saw three things: - The door handle to open the machine - A big red STOP button - A mop in the corner he could use as a lance

Don Quixote grabbed the mop with both hands, holding it like a mighty lance. "Stand back, thunder drum! Release those poor clothes at once!" He pointed the mop at the washing machine. The machine kept spinning, making more WHIRR sounds. "So! You wish to fight?" Don Quixote took a battle stance. "Have at thee!" He charged at the machine with his mop-lance, but slipped on the wet floor! WHOOSH! "Whoa!" He slid right past the washing machine and bumped into a laundry basket. BUMP! Clean socks flew up in the air like tiny white birds. "Aha! The thunder drum has friends!" He jumped up, pointing at the falling socks. "Flying sock warriors! But I am not afraid!" He waved his mop at the falling socks, dancing and spinning. "Take that! And that!" The washing machine made a DING sound. Its cycle was done. "The thunder drum calls for peace!" Don Quixote said, lowering his mop. "Perhaps we can be friends?"

Don Quixote's ears perked up at a strange BEEP BEEP sound from the kitchen. "What's this? A new quest calls!" He held his mop-lance high and marched to the kitchen. In the kitchen, the microwave was beeping. Someone had left their lunch inside. "The silver chest! It calls to me!" Don Quixote crept closer. "And look! It has a magic window too!" Through the microwave door, he saw a plate of hot pizza rolls. "Dragons' eggs!" he gasped. "They glow with magic fire! The chest is keeping them warm!" Steam fogged up the microwave window. Don Quixote's eyes grew wide. "The eggs are breathing! They might hatch any minute!" He bounced with excitement. BEEP! BEEP! The microwave kept calling. "Fear not, dragon eggs! But should I free you from your silver prison? Or guard you until you hatch?"

Don Quixote pressed the magic button on the silver chest. The door swung open with a CLICK! "Be free, tiny dragons!" he said, as steam puffed out like magic smoke. He peered at the glowing pizza rolls. "They're so round! And hot with dragon fire!" PUFF! One pizza roll let out a tiny bit of steam. "It breathed!" Don Quixote jumped back. "The dragons are alive!" He reached for the plate, but pulled his hand back fast. "Ouch! They burn with magic heat!" Just then, he saw some paper towels on the counter. "Aha! Magic cloths to carry dragon eggs!" He grabbed some paper towels and carefully picked up the plate. "There, there, little ones," he said, carrying the plate to the table. "You're safe now!" WHOOSH! The ceiling fan turned on by itself! Don Quixote looked up with big eyes. "A flying windmill! In the castle ceiling!"

"Quick, my dragon friends!" Don Quixote whispered, ducking under the table with his plate of pizza rolls. "The sky windmill tries to steal you away!" WHOOSH! The fan kept spinning above. "Safe here!" he said, making a little nest with paper towels. "The windmill's winds cannot reach us!" From under the table, Don Quixote watched steam rise from the pizza rolls. "Look! They send smoke signals!" he said with joy. "Such clever babies!" DING DONG! The doorbell rang through the house. Don Quixote gasped. "The windmill has called for help! More adventures await!" He peeked out from under the table. Through the window, he saw the mail carrier leaving letters in the box. "A messenger brings scrolls of wisdom!" He looked at his pizza rolls. "But I cannot leave my dragons alone!"

Don Quixote looked at his pizza roll dragons one last time. "Fear not, brave ones! You are strong now!" He crawled out from under the table and ran to the front door. Opening it wide, he found letters in the mailbox. "Magic scrolls!" he said, holding them up to the sun. "Just like in the tales of old!" The pizza rolls cooled on their paper towel nest, no longer steaming. Don Quixote smiled at them. "My quest is done!" he said proudly. "The dragons are safe, the thunder drum sings happy songs, and the magic mirror shows wonderful things!" He sat at the table, munching a pizza roll dragon while reading his magic scrolls. "Mmm!" he said with a big smile. "Dragon eggs taste just like pizza!" And so ended another wonderful adventure of brave Don Quixote, hero of the modern house.
