One day, Boppo the Llama was walking up a big mountain. The sun was going down, and it was time for bed. Boppo's fluffy white wool shook as he walked. His blue ears moved in the wind. "Oh my!" said Boppo, fixing his silver glasses. "It is time to sleep, but I do not know where!" Just then, Boppo saw two paths. One path led to a cave where a bear lived. The other path led to a tree where some birds had their nest. Boppo's violet eyes sparkled. He knew he could learn about how other animals got ready for bed!
Boppo walked to the big cave. His hooves went tap-tap on the rocks. Inside the cave, he saw Bear getting ready for bed. Bear was doing something funny! "Hello Bear!" said Boppo, his blue ears perking up. "What are you doing?" Bear smiled. "I am making my bed soft and cozy. I gather leaves and moss to make it just right." Boppo watched as Bear fluffed up the leaves. His wool shimmered with joy as he learned something new about bedtime. "Would you like to help me?" asked Bear. "There are more leaves outside, or you could help me arrange this moss."
"I will help get leaves!" said Boppo, his wool bouncing happily. Boppo went outside and saw many pretty leaves on the ground. Red ones, yellow ones, and brown ones too! His violet eyes sparkled as he picked them up with his mouth, being very careful. When his mouth was full of soft leaves, he heard a small sound. "Hoo-hoo!" Looking up, Boppo saw an owl in a tree. The owl was just waking up! "Hello there!" said Boppo, after putting down the leaves. "Are you getting ready for your day?" "Yes," said Owl. "While other animals sleep at night, I stay awake! Would you like to learn about my bedtime routine? It happens in the morning!" Boppo's blue ears wiggled with excitement. He could help Bear AND learn about Owl's special bedtime!
Boppo's wool shimmered with rainbow hints as he looked up at Owl. "Yes, please tell me about your bedtime!" "Well," said Owl, fluffing her feathers, "when the sun comes up, I find a nice dark spot in my tree. Then I tuck my head under my wing to keep the light out." Boppo watched as Owl showed him how she folds her wings. His violet eyes grew big behind his silver glasses. "But first," Owl said, "I sing a special morning lullaby. Would you like to hear it?" Boppo nodded, and his magical humming started to match Owl's soft, gentle song. The sound was like wind in the trees. While they sang, Boppo saw a family of rabbits hopping by. They were just waking up for breakfast!
"Thank you for teaching me your song!" Boppo said to Owl. His wool bounced as he waved goodbye with one fluffy leg. Boppo turned to the rabbit family. His blue ears perked up when he saw the little bunnies jumping around. "Good morning!" said Boppo. "I am learning about bedtime. Do rabbits have a special way to get ready for sleep?" Mama Rabbit smiled. "Oh yes! We rabbits like to sleep in a burrow under the ground. It keeps us safe and warm." The baby bunnies hopped in circles around Boppo. His violet eyes watched them bounce and play. "Before bed, we do bunny stretches," said Papa Rabbit. "It helps us sleep better. Would you like to try?" The whole rabbit family got ready to show Boppo their bedtime stretches.
"Yes, please show me!" said Boppo, his wool shimmering with excitement. "First, we stretch up tall!" said Papa Rabbit. All the bunnies stood on their back legs, reaching high. Boppo stood tall too, stretching his long neck up toward the sky. His silver glasses almost fell off! "Now, we stretch down low," said Mama Rabbit. The bunnies touched their toes with their noses. Boppo bent his neck down, down, down. His fluffy wool touched the ground! "Last, we do three little hops and a twist!" squeaked the baby bunnies. They all bounced and spun around. Boppo tried to hop, but his legs got tangled! He tumbled over, giggling. His magical humming made a happy sound like tinkling bells. Just then, they heard a splash from a nearby pond. A family of ducks was getting ready for bed too!
Boppo waved goodbye to the rabbit family and walked to the pond. His hooves made soft splish-splash sounds in the wet grass. The duck family was floating on the water. Mama Duck was helping her ducklings get ready for bed. "Hello!" called Boppo, his blue ears twitching with interest. "May I watch your bedtime routine?" "Of course!" said Mama Duck. "We ducks have a special way to sleep. Watch this!" Boppo's violet eyes grew wide as he watched the ducks tuck their bills under their wings. They could sleep while floating on the water! "We also put special oil on our feathers," said Mama Duck. "It keeps us warm and dry while we sleep." Boppo's wool shimmered as he learned this new thing. His magical humming sounded like gentle ripples on the pond. Just then, he heard two sounds: a cricket starting to chirp from the grass, and a sleepy yawn from the cave where Bear was waiting for those leaves!
Boppo looked at the cave, then at the cricket, and smiled. His violet eyes sparkled with all he had learned. "Thank you, Duck family!" he said. "I must take these leaves to Bear now." Boppo picked up the leaves in his mouth and trotted back to the cave. His wool bounced with each step. "Here are your leaves, Bear!" said Boppo. "I learned so many wonderful things about bedtime!" Bear added the leaves to his cozy bed. "Thank you, Boppo. Would you like to stay and sleep here?" Boppo yawned and nodded. His blue ears drooped sleepily as he curled up next to Bear. As the moon rose high, Boppo thought about all his new friends. Owl waking up for her night songs, the rabbits doing their stretches, and the ducks floating on the pond. His magical humming made soft, sleepy sounds like gentle night winds. His wool shimmered with tiny rainbow dreams as he drifted off to sleep, warm and cozy in Bear's cave. And as cricket's song filled the night air, Boppo smiled in his sleep, knowing tomorrow would bring more wonderful bedtime stories to learn.
